Moving Tips

Residential Move or Commercial Move can be a very tiring and overwhelming time and it can often seem like there are a million things that need to be done at once. In order to keep yourself sane and worry-free throughout the entire process, it’s important that you always stay one step ahead of where you need to be by making a list and being organized.

Here are a few ways to organize the packing so you can make your move a more pleasant and enjoyable experience:

  1. Review your estimate make sure it’s accurate.  Make sure inventory is up to date.
  2. Make sure you schedule your move in advance to get your move date set.
  3. Don’t forget to have all utilities, cable, and any other scheduled services canceled.
  4. Get necessary records (medical, school, pet, dental etc) change of address filing through the local Postal Service.
  5. It is not recommended to schedule your traveling plans for the day of your scheduled move.
  6. Don’t forget, large glass items also require packing too!  Glass table tops, glass shelves, and currio cabinets are all excellent examples of items that should be wrapped in bubble wrap and crated for transport.
  7. Mark your boxes such as fragile, this side up and which room in the home it belongs.
  8. Don’t leave a box half full either fill it or use packing to fill up the extra space.
  9. Refrigerator, freezers should be defrosted and emptied at least 1 full day before moving.
